The Dynafit Product Manager Footwear manages the Dynafit Footwear categories Trail Running and Mountaineering. Reporting to the Product Director Soft Goods, the Product Manager is responsible for enhancing product positioning and improve product profitability through building seasonal and long-term line plans that are aligned to the Brand positioning and strategy. The main task is to implement these line plans with all internal and external stakeholders, so the right product is coming in time with the right quality and price to the market. The Product Manager combines active product use, understanding of today ‘s sport cultures, market knowledge and input from the product and sales teams to build product line plans. In collaboration with design and product development teams he/she enables the creation of products in exposure to outdoor industry trends and competitive innovations. He/She works with the development team to create products that are of the highest quality, function, fit and with all fabrication standards.
Tasks & responsibilities
Product Management (70%)
Develop seasonal product line/matrix following the brands strategic briefing
Prepare the business plan proposal (product concept, price positioning, target costs, features, sales potential, promotion and communication)
Define detailed product brief (feature, design, functionality, costs and quality) to brief the Product Division (Design, R&D etc.) with clear vision on USP within the collection and compared to benchmark
Analyze and interpret sales data through feedback and information collected on field
Understand sales, margin, turns, and merchandising requirements of buyers and key accounts. Digest and analyze data from sell-through reports
Analyze competitors (product, price, activity) as well as market needs and identify future trends in close collaboration with the brand, developing contacts with proper focus groups
Debrief R&D and Design Team regularly and build and maintain intradepartmental relationships with all functional areas and ensure alignment on product brief
Be the owner of the line plan and product brief by permanently monitoring the product brief with all stakeholders to keep gates and timings
Translation of (technical) Product USP’s into Product Marketing/Communication starting from sell-in tools (product description, workbook/website content, presentations,) to Sell-out (POS Tools, Techbook, product trainings, etc.) in collaboration with the Marketing Team. Insert and update product specific information in the relevant database.
Present product strategy and explain product features during sales meetings and other internal meetings to increase product know how
Market visits for presentation, relationship building with key stakeholders and trend/market research
Assist in meetings with key accounts and strategic dealers
Define and achieve contribution targets by monitoring cost of products
Work with the Development and Testing department to optimize process and outcome of lab- and field tests
Organize and manage focus groups and test teams for field tests
Align on a regular base with other product groups following Dynafit’s ONE SYSTEM strategy
Project Management (30%)
Schedule and control in collaboration with the Product Division the Product Development Process and update the Product Management Tools
Set up the product development calendar and respective meetings in collaboration with the Product Division
Keep track of ongoing development with R&D and Design team to respect time gates
Work with the Product Division to guarantee delivery deadlines of Sample Set and new products according to market launch plans
Prepare, edit and hold product presentations based on Design, R&D and innovation proposals
Create and update seasonal product line list
Act as link between Product Division, Marketing and Sales to keep all product related information up to date
Create and update product related workbook content and maintain up to date
Examine, report and track success and failure with Product Divison
Profile
Degree in Economics/Marketing/Communication or Industrial/Product Design or Engineering
Passionate about Trailrunning
3+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the sporting goods sector
Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Very good English skills and Italian Skills, German is a plus
Organizational skills and experience in time and project management
Travel required: 30%
